4th of July Friendly Letter

Write to a long lost classmate a letter around the 4th of July updating them on what is happening in your life this summer. When you are finished typing your letter, spell check your letter, and choose the font and size. You can add some "4th of July" flare to it by working with the font color. In the upper left hand corner of your text, high-light it (line by line) and change it to the color blue. In the upper right hand corner as well as the whole bottom half, change the color every 2 lines to red. Your letter will now resemble a U.S. Flag! Print it out on a color printer and send it off. Happy 4th of July!

Betsy's Birthday

Celebrate Betsy Ross' birthday (January 1st, 1752) by creating her a patriotic birthday card. Make sure you use lots of red, white, and blue fonts and clipart. Can you do some research and find out any interesting facts about her? Also, write her a special note thanking her for her hard work and impact on American History. Don't forget to fly your flag on this special day!

Family Flag Fun!

Celebrate the 223rd Birthday of the Flag on June 14th by designing your own Family Flag. Begin by opening a new drawing. First, make the page set up "landscape." It is now time to create your design. Here are a few ideas:

  1. You may want to start by putting your family name in the center of it.
  2. Have each family member choose their favorite color and add a stripe or shape that represents each of those.
  3. Have each member choose a piece of clip art that is fitting for them.
  4. If you have a family pet, add a graphic that represents them.
  5. Add any additional designs to complete the flag.

Finally, print it out and proudly "fly" it on your refrigerator. Oh...don't forget to hang your United States Flag on June 14th, Flag Day!
