Tech Word:
Digital Footprint

digital footprints

Your digital footprint is the trail you leave in cyberspace through emails sent, blog postings, entries at SNS (Social networking sites), and other interactions with the Internet. It is like leaving virtual fingerprints for everything you do online. Think twice then "don't!" when considering any improper activities on the web since "digital dirt" is much more difficult to destroy than a paper trail. Job firings, political campaigns and even criminal trials have used digital footprints as evidence.
