Who is Alice©?

Alice 3-D animation programming softwareAlice is not the waitress at the local diner, as you might expect, but, rather, a unique programming tool that makes it easy to animate 3-D objects to help tell a story or interact in a video or game. Carnegie-Mellon University's free teaching tool can provide high-school and college students with exposure to the fundamentals of programming concepts. Students use a drag and drop interface to create the program which animates characters, animals or objects in their virtual world. These animations help grab the viewers' attention while instructions are being given or a story is shared. Learn more about this unique tool.

Tech Word:
Quick Response Tag
Quick Response Tag

A Quick Response (QR) tag is a way to embed text, URL, SMS, or other information in a two-dimensional bar code that can be projected, embedded in a web page, or printed and stuck on an object. QR tags can be used in many creative ways. For more information about QR tags and smart objects, check out this web site.

Use a cell phone tag reader (such as NeoReader for the iPhone®) to scan the QR tag above. It will take you to our favorite website! Use this web site to try creating your own QR tag, perhaps a secret message for students to read on their tag-reading cell phones.
