The Buddy Project launched a "Green" campaign, running from February 1 through Earth Day on April 22, 2009. As part of the campaign, a Rotunda Day exhibit was held on March 18, 2009, at the Indiana state capitol building.
The theme was "Green Connections: Learning and Living" and was intended to raise the awareness of state officials to the many authentic, environmentally friendly activities and technology projects occurring in our schools throughout the state. As the name implies, various tables and exhibits were set up in the State House. As legislators strolled by during the course of their daily business, students "strutted their colors" and demonstrated one or more of the "green" activities or projects they are doing that are supported by, are about and/or are implemented through the use of technology.
Legislators received personal invitations from schools in their districts to meet them and see the students' projects. Turn-out was fantastic, and students were excited to be able to talk with their legislators about the cool learning opportunities occurring in their schools.
