Indiana 2nd Grade Laptop Project
Download "handout" describing this professional development
Is your school participating in the 2nd Grade Laptop Project? If so, we can help meet your professional development needs for this initiative. Our two-day workshop series, augmented by online follow-up support and resources will provide opportunity for teachers to learn and share ideas on management issues, hardware and software skills, curriculum integration and connection with families and home.
The following topics will incorporated in the
2–day series:
- Idea sharing for classroom management in a 1:1 environment
- Organize students & “stuff”
- Discover features of the laptops and software
- Maintain and care for devices, for optimal results
- Integration of information/technology literacy into the curriculum
- Plan for effective curriculum integration across all content areas using appropriate tools and technologies
- Learn techniques for connecting school and home
- Look at ways to assess learning using standards-based and 21st Century skill rubrics and tools
When?
This is a two-day series. Please select one of these groups and plan to join us for both sessions:
- Group 1: March 13, 2009 and April 15, 2009
- Group 2: June 18, 2009 and June 19, 2009
- Group 3: July 20, 2009 and July 21, 2009
Where?
This series will be held at the Buddy Teaching & Learning Center. We are also working with regional ESCs to take the training closer to folks living outside of the Indianapolis metropolitan area. We can also bring the training directly to your school once you are set up with your mini-laptops and wireless Internet connectivity.
How much?
Cost for the series of two sessions and follow-up support if you come to us at our center is just $100 per person. Regional ESC session prices may vary dependent upon their expenses. ESCs will advertise and register participants for their hosted sessions. The BTLC Outreach option, where we bring the trainer to your school for two days (we’ll work together to make the schedule fit), is just $1,500 for the series. You can invite other neighboring schools to participate at your site and share this expense.
