Family fun and learning are promoted through take-home theme focused Backpacks. Information and ideas for materials and activities which can be included in these great backpacks are provided at this page.
Participants will learn the "nuts and bolts" about developing a "Family Literacy Backpacks" project in this make-it, take-it workshop. These thematic Backpacks are sent home with students to promote literacy at home along with interactive family learning. Time will be spent looking at materials made by past school participants in the project, development of goals and a management plan. A Family Night introduction to the project will also be highlighted. Ideas, templates and materials to start developing your own thematic Backpacks will be provided. Plan to develop completed Backpacks and plans for further development of a full project to be implemented in your school.
Applications for a grant opportunity will also be provided.
