2009 Summer Camps at BTLC

Summer camps at the Buddy Teaching & Learning Center are multi-day sessions that are available for university credit and which may include related grants. Please check the BTLC website for more information about summer camps, university credit options, and related grant opportunities.
- CampMoodle 2009
- Build your own Moodle Camp experience, based on your needs as a Moodler. Attend ONE of our CampPlanner sessions, where you put together your own itinerary of five days of Moodle training, choosing from topics and mini-camps offered in June through August. If a beginning Moodler, Introduction to Moodle Parts 1 and 2, should be your first two days’ choices. Past MoodleCamper?. . .or somewhat experienced Moodler? Pick from a host of single day sessions to complete your personalized camp itinerary. All BYO campers must attend ONE CampPlanner date to establish a project to work on and to select five additional sessions to attend. University credit (3 hours) is available for this camp at an additional cost.
- Camp PBL: Project Based Learning
- Student engagement is the key to student success. Project Based Learning is driven by student engagement in authentic, real world challenges and guided by savvy educators. During the camp we’ll explore, use and implement readily available technologies that will help you plan, manage, implement, document, and assess quality PBL experiences in your classroom or school. Leave with a ready-to-use PBL plan and myriad resources to transform your teaching to meet 21st century needs through project-based learning. After spending a week planning your project, take it back to your school and implement it. University credit (3 hours) is available for this course for an additional fee and participation in an additional forum and chat time.
- "Build Your Own" Technology Integration Camp
- Build Your Own Technology Camp experience, based on your needs as an educator. Attend ONE of our CampPlanner sessions, where you put together your own itinerary of five days of technology integration training, choosing from topics and mini-camps offered in June through August. If you feel your students know more than you do about technology or if you need to catch up on some of the latest technology trends, gadgets, and software available, you can find what you are looking for in a variety of sessions that you can choose from. All BYO Campers must attend ONE CampPlanner Day to set a goal for their technology integration plan and to select the additional five sessions they plan to attend. University credit (3 hours) is available for this session at an additional cost.
- Family Literacy Backpack Camp
- Participants will learn about and develop a "Family Literacy Backpacks" project in this make-it, take-it mini-camp. These thematic backpacks are sent home with students to promote literacy at home along with interactive family learning. Time will be spent looking at materials made by past school participants in the project, development of goals and a management plan. A Family Night introduction to the project will also be highlighted. Ideas, templates and materials to start developing your own thematic Backpacks will be provided. Plan to develop 1-2 completed Backpacks and plans for further development of a full project to be implemented in your school. University credit (1 hour) is available for this course for an additional fee.
- 2nd Grade Laptop Project Workshop Series
- Is your school participating in the 2nd Grade Laptop Project? If so, we can help meet your professional development needs for this initiative. Our two-day workshop series, augmented by online follow-up support and resources will provide opportunity for teachers to learn and share ideas on management issues, hardware and software skills, curriculum integration and connection with families and home. Participants must bring 2nd Grade Laptop with them. University credit (1 hour) is available for this session at an additional cost.
