Upcycling
Do you know what the difference between recycling and upcycling is? Upcycling, a phrase created by Cradle to Cradle authors William McDonough and Michael Braungart, is the act of creating useful products from waste materials. You’ve probably even seen upcycled products like bags made from CapriSun® packages, or quilts made from old clothes. Create your own upcycled objects from discarded materials in your recycling bin like old cereal boxes and empty soda bottles. If you need some help coming up with an idea, you can find Do-It-Yourself guides and instructions on-line. Use a digital camera to take photos of your project and post it to the Recycled Art Community’s Gallery. (Digital photography, Internet research / NETS 3, 5)

Create a Glog at Glogster.com showcasing your upcycled object. Include information about what it is made of, how it was made, and why reusing discarded objects is a good idea. (Web 2.0 tools, Word processing, Digital images / NETS 1, 2, 3, 6)
