One of the newest trends in technology is the use of electronic book readers. These battery operated, hand-held devices are about the size of a book, or slightly larger, with a high resolution screen which provides the sensation of reading the pages of a traditional book. Pages are flipped electronically and can be bookmarked for easy return to a page or to note key passages. Many models have built-in keyboards for note taking, highlighting and underlining; touch screens; and a built-in dictionary. Built-in memory can store an electronic library of books and periodicals downloaded through Internet connectivity. Thousands of electronic books are available for purchase through online stores along with many books that are free. The most well-known e-book readers are listed below, but look for many new releases coming soon with this industry changing quickly and a new emphasis directed toward the education market.
