Google™ Makes it Easy
Think about being able to collaborate with 20 other classrooms around the state to record the daily temperature in a spreadsheet or to share students’ opinions in a document immediately upon the completion of the presidential election. Google™ has made it not only possible, but easy to do in real-time. Google Docs™ provides the ability to create documents, spreadsheets and presentations from scratch or from provided templates. Editing tools are simple to use and similar to ones used in other popular applications. These documents can then be stored online and published to securely share with others. Creators can upload already created files in popular formats such as, .doc, .xls or .ppt. Google Docs is also a great tool for collaboration and sharing among teachers and administrators. Consider how well Google Docs keeps items organized and how efficient collaboration with others across your school district in real-time can be on all types of reports, plans and proposals. “I can easily see a lot of benefit from using this with our school-wide plan,” explains Mary Beth Harris, principal at Fuqua Elementary, Terre Haute, IN. Best news of all: Google offers these tools free-of-charge. To take a tour and obtain more information go to Google Docs.
